We have been retained as legal counsel for Tendai Biti Law including its staff, partners and principal Mr. Tendai Biti. This arises from the deployment of several police officers within the vicinity and precincts of Tendai Biti Law offices in Milton Park Harare.
In line with our mandate, our Litigation Head and Managing Partner Jeremiah Bamu engaged with the police to ascertain whether any of our clients were persons of interest in any ongoing police investigations and establish means in which to assist in those investigations if any.
We have been reassured by the police that neither Mr. Tendai Biti, Tendai Biti Law nor any of its members of staff or partners are subjects of any current or ongoing police investigations. We have also been assured that the police are merely performing their routine duties of maintaining law and order and were not specifically targeting Mr. Tendai Biti, Tendai Biti Law or any of its staff or partners or any other person ordinary residing or plying their trades in that area. They also reassured us that should they require our clients, they would communicate in the proper channels, including through us.
We equally reassured the police that our clients are law abiding citizens who are keen to cooperate with the police at any point they are required to do so. We reassured the police that in line with our professional mandate, we stand ready to engage with them should the need arise, but in the meantime, we would confirm to our clients and the world at large that our clients are not wanted by the police in connection with any matter.
